New Health and Human Services (HHS) Position Found?

The Obama Administration might be nailing the coffin concerning the Health and Human Sercies position as Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is speculated to fill the position.

According to politico.com, “Sebelius, 60, is seen as a leading contender because of her close relationship Obama—she backed his candidacy over Hillary Rodham Clinton and was a top surrogate to women’s groups during the campaign.”

Also according to Scientific American Magazine, “Sebelius won kudos from consumer groups who applauded her for blocking a merger between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas with an Indiana company because it would, she said, raise premiums in her state. In her seven years as governor, Sebelius, 60, has vetoed anti-abortion legislation, including a bill that would have allowed the state to collect medical records to justify late-term abortion and allow people to seek court orders to prevent women from obtaining late-term abortions. And she’s been in charge of Kansas’ Medicaid program.”

And although a position has pre-emptively been filled for the HHS, the White House Office of Health Reform that was going to be led by former HHS nominee Tom Daschle is now an issue.

More information can be found on the nytimes.com regarding this issue.
